Pilgrim Fest in Sarzana

evento cinque terre icona 19 July 2019 fino al 21 July 2019

The first edition of "Pilgrim Fest" starts from 19 to 21 July in the magnificent Firmafede Fortress in Sarzana. Workshops for children, conferences, exhibitions and above all two days dedicated to the exhibition and tasting of typical products of the Via Francigena curated by the Slow Food Sarzana, Lerici, Val di Magra and the now traditional opening of the Porta Pisana.

There is a stretch of the Francigena that ideally combines two distant places but with many similarities: Veleia and Luni. Both ancient Roman cities, today one of the most important archaeological areas in Northern Italy were founded after the final subjugation of the Ligurians by Rome. Veleia (whose name derives from the Ligurian tribe called Veleiate) in the province of Piacenza, Luni on the border between Liguria and Tuscany collect a large territory that coincides with the historic Lunigiana, a land rich in historical, architectural, cultural and environmental emergencies to be enhanced and promoted . A path that goes from the ridge of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines to the Ligurian-Tyrrhenian coast, and that covers the territories of the provinces of Piacenza, Massa Carrara and La Spezia.
