Friday 2 August , at 9.15 pm, at the Nostra Signora di Soviore Sanctuary in Monterosso al Mare, an unmissable event of the XXXVIII Cinque Terre International Music Festival will take place. The protagonist will be the Katharsis Ensemble .
The concert will be preceded, at 18.30, by a musical oenological tasting during which the musicians and the Sommelier Yvonne Riccobaldi, delegate AIS la Spezia, will match the producers of the Cinque Terre to great composers.
To take part in the tasting, a reservation is required by sending an email to: comunicazione@parconazionale5terre.it
The Katharsis Ensemble is born from the meeting of four musicians from different countries and artistic experiences: M. Burger and J.von Klewitz, already active in projects of instrumental improvisation based on the encounter between the language of jazz and the Protestant choral and in particular the chorales by Bach, and D.Oberdorfer and F. Bartoletti, both of classical training. From this important meeting springs the idea of ??an original musical project, characterized by a language that has the melodic line of Gregorian chant as a guiding thread: its purity blends with the vivid energy and the art of improvisation of the 21st century : the melody is entrusted to the voice of D. Oberforfer and the piano, the saxophone, the organ meet and interact in an effective combination of sounds. The Ensemble thus accompanies the listeners on a musical journey that refreshes and purifies the soul (Katharsis).
The first album of the Ensemble, Vesprae, immediately wins the American criticism, and the group qualifies among the first hundred chamber music groups participating in the Grammy Awards.
"Music suspends our daily conception of time ... Here many boundaries are blurred, everything is in a state of flux. The listener can immerse himself in the sound, float on it ... The four musicians, endowed with all subtleties jazz harmonics, have created an extraordinary musical collaboration, documented in a surprising dolby surround sound recording: sometimes the music is as soft as alabaster, sometimes exultant as a hymn ... ". Karsten Muetzelfeldt
To the four members of the Ensemble a fifth has been added, the American James Linahon, composer and trumpet player and music producer who boasts over 300 recording projects for film, television, radio, musical theater and CD / DVD for Warner Bros ., Walt Disney Co., Sony, Paramount, Universal etc.
The group is currently working on a new recording project.
Admission to concerts is free.
