Fire in the Cinque Terre Riomaggiore

Another fire ravaged hills of the Cinque Terre, just above Riomaggiore; dozens of volunteers have been engaged for several hours and it was necessary the intervention of two Canadair who worked on the afternoon of 15 and all day 16 October.

SI 'CELEBRATES - awareness raising event in the referendum Riomaggiore

A big party to raise awareness of the vote in the referendum 12 and 13 June.

A Riomaggiore group “ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP” hosts a party for Friday 10 June to be held in the Piazza from the vine-dresser 17.30.

Waterspouts to 5 Earth video

Today 23 November, we witnessed a truly outstanding performance: the formation of 4 waterspouts on the sea front of Riomaggiore and Manarola.

The event itself is not at all unusual, although it is rare to see a formation of four vortices are very close. Even more exceptional size of the largest that was really scary. Here is a photo gallery and video Albino Faggioni

Arsonists triggered into action at the Cinque Terre.

Firemen in action at the stake of Corniglia

In just over a week, two large fires have devastated the forests of Mediterranean surrounding the towns of Corniglia and Riomaggiore. In both cases, several houses were evacuated fire lapped, fortunately without consequences for the safety of persons.

Meanwhile, another large fire was kindled in the municipality of Carrodano, in the hinterland of Levanto. In all the fires are attended by aircraft of the Civil Protection who have worked tirelessly to shut down.

The last fire in Riomaggiore, documented in the included video,broke out on Saturday evening 12 September along the main road Resort, putting a strain on the volunteer fire that had to work overnight to limit the damage.

The 5 Lands on BING, The new Microsoft search engine

In exactly two months away from official launch of www.bing.com , The new Microsoft search engine, today 26 July, the homepage of Google's main rival as a background image Riomaggiore..

The choice of the house in Houston to publish every day a new background using suggestive images of places around the world is much more contrast than the competitors (www.Google.com ) which has always chosen to use white backgrounds with no graphic.

Already 4 June 2009, one of the very first days of life BING, picture of Riomaggiore had been the background to the search page of the U.S. Section attracting hundreds of research to discover the wonderful places of our region.

Given the beauty of the images used, we decided to collect them into a photo gallery that can be downloaded at http://www.cinqueterre.com/blog/download-foto , to access the page necessary registration the blog.

We also took the opportunity to publish a new photo gallery dedicated to the sunsets of the Cinque Terre, downloadable at the same address.

Two months after the official launch of www.bing.com , the new search engine of Microsoft, today, july 26th 2009 the background image of its homepage ( italian localization)  is showing Riomaggiore .

Already on june 4th, one of the very first day of  BING’s life, this picture has been used as background image of the main US localization homepage.

For those who don’t know BING yet, it’s used to show every day a different (..and beautiful!)  picture taken all around the world as background of its homepage.
