Festival Cinque Terre: “The places of the soul”

Under the artistic direction of Daniela Ardini and Giorgio Cloths, The sixth edition of Festival Cinque Terre: the places of the soul organized by Lunaria Theatre, dedicated to the meeting between the theater and the various arts with the world of religions, will touch all the towns of the Cinque Terre – The initiative is supported by the Region of Liguria, in collaboration with the National Park of the Cinque Terre towns of Monterosso and, Riomaggiore and Vernazza,

The start, Wednesday 26 December 2012, in Manarola (hours 15) and Vernazza (hours 16) traveling with a concert by the band Essepi, which will offer a Christmas repertoire Italian and Scottish bagpipes, accordion and woodwinds. The same day to follow, Vernazza, (hours 16.30) at the Church of Santa Margherita, Roberto Tomaello The present pastoi or crib Father Luigi Persoglio: the text tells the Nativity in a fun way, with the typical "bickering" in the classic comedy. The pastor Genoese Giaxo (Gelindo the traditional) is a simple man and generous, which, with its spontaneity becomes the mediator between the common people and the divine.

Sunday 30 December (hours 16), at the City Council Hall of Monterosso, Turin Tangram Theatre Company will stage The Good News, a theater song largely taken from the Apocrypha and the homonymous work by Fabrizio De André.

The events continue Saturday 5 January (hours 16), at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Riomaggiore, with a concert of Christmas carols and Cantigas by Arkensé ensemble & Consort directed by Vera Marenco, and ends on the day of the Epiphany in Corniglia with an appointment for the little ones, at the Oratory of the Disciplined S. Catherine, (hours 16), the Opera Company of Ghosts propose the flight of Friendship, taken from The Seagull and the Cat by Luis Sepulveda.

All actions are input to offer for municipalities flood victims.

The 'Sciacchetrà': the nectar of 5 Earth

When it comes to wine of the Cinque Terre, one can only refer mainly to the famous wine Sciacchetrà ( the “Sciachetrà” if you prefer), produced from the best grapes to dry, a meditation wine that inspires poetry and love.
The wine production of 5 Land does not end with sciacchetrà: the “Cinque Terre DOC” is an interesting dry table but the fruit prince of sweat on our rugged hills is undoubtedly the Sciacchetrà.

Our Friends “Vigneto5Terre” gave us this insight into the production process and we are pleased to share with all readers:

Our family is dedicated to the cultivation of the vine to the Cinque Terre, by the end of the 800, to the present day.
Our vineyards stretch for about 5.000 square meters on the heights of Volastra, a 300 meters from the sea level, just above Manarola, in the heart of the National Park of the Cinque Terre.
The cultivated land is very steep and thanks to the hard work of previous generations, it was possible to take advantage of this area is very steep, thanks to the creation of the typical terraces supported by dry walls, built with stones and earth with no trace of cement.
Our vineyards are supported by typical "autedi", pergolas or wire on which the vines are supported.
In addition to the dry wine, we do the laborious production of the legendary "Sciacchetrà", sweet dessert wine that is achieved by selecting the best grapes and then subjecting them to drying.
The first phase is the selection of the most healthy and mature grapes that are carefully cut and put down with great delicacy in "baskets" (wicker basket with four handles).
You are using the "corba" wicker instead of the plastic container because it provides a less crushing of the delicate contents during transport.
The second step is to transfer the grapes from the "corba" the wooden boxes that are placed on a terrace well exposed to the sun. Dusk, it then proceeds to the coverage of the cassettes to prevent moisture goes to affect the bunch rot causing the.
After about 7-10 days of exposure to the sun we proceed to the third stage, moving boxes in a closed, ma ben areato, where complete drying of the grapes.
After about 1 month of collection we proceed to the fourth and final phase, proceeding with the manual shelling and subsequent crushing of the grapes with their feet, as was formerly.
Fermentation takes place in small oak barrels where,after about 3 week, is decanted into glass demijohns.
The wine is bottled after about 1 year and a half and aging reaches its peak around 5 age, even if the structure of this wine can also support a greater aging.
Vanti apart, not baratterei a bottle of our Sciacchetrà with any bottle of sweet wine on the world market!!!

The Maritime Festival - La Spezia

The Feast of the Marine is the main Italian event dedicated to the sea and maritime culture.
